How Does The I-94 Impact The Duration Of Your E-2 visa?

Table of Content

The I-94 can have an impact on the E-2 visa.

Upon entering the U.S. on an E-2 visa, you will be required to present your documents for verification and authentication at the immigration office.

Immigration officers from the Department of Homeland security (DHS) will stamp your 1-94 form.  They will also record your duration of status (D/S) and your class of admission, which in this case, is ‘E-2’.

What is recorded in your 1-94 form as D/S is the actual E-2 visa validity.  The decision to grant a specified duration is the sole mandate of the immigration department.

If the length is far less than you anticipated, you can always renew your E-2 visa at the lapse of the period of stay.
